4 x 4 Adventures - Land Rover Portland

We recently had the pleasure of meeting Stefan, Silke and their truly amazing 2003 Defender 110 Td5.

This amazing German couple is on a very adventurous driving expedition through Canada, parts of the US and all the way down to Patagonia in South America. The estimated expedition duration is set to be about 2 years!

In May of 2008 Stefan and Silke shipped their Defender 110 to Baltimore, MD, USA. They later joined their “Fender” (this is what Stefan’s grandmother back in Germany calls the vehicle), drove north up to Canada and trekked across Canada’s Artic circle down to Alaska. Months later, upon approaching Oregon, Stefan and Silke’s Defender 110 needed maintenance and repairs. PDX Rovers was honored to be selected by them to do the work. Due to the extent and duration of the work needed, we invited them to stay at our home. It was great to be in the company of two very brave and inspiring people and be part of their adventure for a little while. Stefan and Silke are from Tuerkheim in Bavaria, Germany. For four years they worked hard, saved their money, did extensive destination research, outfitted their Defender 110, and in preparation for the upcoming expedition they test-drove it on trips to Belgium, Spain, Croatia, and local trips throughout Germany.

Finally and so very exciting for us here at PDX Rovers, Stefan and Silke have offered to send us photos as they continue their expedition southbound. They immediately became a dear part of our family and we are very happy to feature their photos so their families and friends in Germany can follow along – together with you and us!

The title for the expedition photo documentary is based on what our 3-year old daughter Isabella now asks on a daily basis: “Where are Stefan & Silke … & Fender?”
