Bend Rovers – Independent Land Rover Service – Celebrates Its One Year Anniversary.
Answers customers’ need for a local, affordable and reliable Land Rover repair facility.

[Bend, Oregon – August 17, 2010] This year marks the One Year Anniversary of Bend
Rovers, a local family-owned independent Land Rover service shop in Bend, Oregon –
proudly serving all of Central Oregon Land Rover owners by offering scheduled
maintenance, service & repairs, warranty and insurance work, plus custom and expedition
outfitting.

With 20 years of expertise, the founder and operator of PDX Rovers located in Portland,
Francis Watson, opened up Bend Rovers last year based on popular demand from
existing customers who wanted to avoid driving to the valley for maintenance and
repairs. Making the Bend Rovers facility modern, hi-tech and welcoming was a
community effort – for example, the inviting waiting room was designed by a local
interior designer and constructed by local craftsmen.

Received With Open Arms

“It has been an amazing year,” said Francis Watson, and he continued, “we have been
received with open arms by the Central Oregon Land Rover community. One of our goals
was to get more Land Rovers on the roads here and we believe that has happened, too.”
He added, “We are seeing an increasing amount of incoming customers who have just
purchased a Land Rover, and we are honored to partner with them in keeping their
Rovers on the road for many years to come.” The trying economic times have affected
many consumer sectors including auto maintenance and repair. Stated Mr. Watson, “We
understand the current economic climate is still moving up a steep but yet positive curve,
so we happily offer 90-day no credit in-house financing.”

Technology Additions and Facility Expansions

Over the past year Bend Rovers has added more technology, additional factory computer
diagnostic systems, and soon will expand their existing space – enabling their modern
and eco-friendly facility to accommodate even more service appointments.

Family Now Residing Here

Instead of a bi-weekly work schedule in Bend, the Bend Rovers family now calls Bend
their permanent home with their toddler girls attending local schools and activities. “We
consider our customers and vendors part of our extended family and we enjoy the
frequent meet & greet moments when we are out and about in the community and run
into fellow Land Rover drivers,” Mr. Watson concluded.

Defender 110 Driving World Explorers:

Both PDX & Bend Rovers seem to have developed a rare ability to attract Defender 110 driving world continent explorers.

It all started with the German couple Stefan & Silke who came to us in August 2008. We developed a wonderful friendship with them and had the honor of hosting their photo blog during their 2-year long driving trek from Canada to South America: http://www.pdxrovers.com/blog or http://www.pdxrovers.com/adventure.html

Francis and his son Terry even flew down to Peru and met up with Stefan and Silke and drove from Lima to Nazca to Cusco – crossing the Andes in the Defender 110.

Since then we’ve run into more wonderful travelers - and hopefully more to come as it’s so very inspiring to follow their adventures using Defender 110s:

Francis and Terry’s Excursion to Peru – reuniting with Stefan, Silke & “Fender”

Recently a happy reunion took place when Francis, owner of PDX Rovers and Bend Rovers, and his son Terry traveled to Peru to attend a wedding and during the very same period got reunited with the Canada-to-South-America-driving Germans Stefan and Silke. The reunion took place approximately one year after us having waved good-bye to Stefan and Silke when they left Portland after three amazing weeks. They had stayed at our house while we did maintenance work on their Defender 110 Td5 (learn more about their amazing driving expedition by clicking the 4x4 Adventures tab on our web page). After a lot of festivities in the capital Lima, Stefan, Silke, Francis and Terry piled into “Fender”, the Defender 110 Td5, and first drove south-bound to Nazca (famous for the Nazca lines) and then east-bound to Cuzco – crossing the Andes mountains and driving for hours – mostly above 14,000 feet with the highest driving point being 15,041 feet (4580 meters), The Sacred Valley of the Incas and the amazing Machu Picchu.

The Land Rover-ORBEA cycling team just released this video which we would like to share as the story behind Norrene and David establishing this racing team is so very inspiring. We applaud their determination and hard work to raise money and develop young cycling talents. Also, the cause it very dear to our hearts as Francis' wife Elsa lost her mother to breast cancer in June 2009:

Hi everyone,

You and your Land Rover are wanted this Friday early evening 8/7/09 in Downtown Portland @ the Portland Twilight Criterium bicycle race in the North Park blocks!

PDX Rovers has been asked by the Land Rover-Orbea cycle team Manger to source Land Rovers and their owners to show up at the Land Rover-Orbea “base camp”. You’ll get to be right inside the race and hear the sweet sound of blistering fast bicycle tires plus there’ll be music, food and beverages.

They have room for approx. 15 - 20 Land Rovers (their base camp is right on Park Ave … between Everett & Flanders) and it’s first come first serve! If the max is slightly exceeded they might have an adjacent parking lot available on Glisan.

We happen to know first-hand that being inside the race is rather fun as we recently cheered this team on when they did the Cascade Cycling Classic in Bend.

Please sign up by emailing elsa@pdxrovers.com

Learn more about the event from the attached pdf – and from this link: http://www.portlandtwilight.com/

Again, please RSVP to elsa@pdxrovers.com so we can keep an accurate head count and accommodate as many of you as possible!

“Go Team Land Rover-Orbea”,

Francis & Elsa
